Is it possible for an person who throws, splatters, and scatters paint to be a master artist? That is the question we will be considering during this month’s study of Jackson Pollock.
Jackson Pollock 1912-1956 United States |
Convergence 1952 Oil on Canvas |
We will be making our own splatter paintings, with a bit of a twist using frisket resist. To complete this project each student will need:
- Scissors – 1 per student
- straw – 1 student
- Inktense pencils (note these are ink pencils, not watercolor pencils) – set of 6 – can be shared
- #4 round brush Princeton Neptune synthetic squirrel – 1 per student
- Watercolor art board 8×10″- 1 board per student
- Frisket masking film 9×12″ – 1 sheet per student
- Spray bottle – 2.5 oz -1 per student
You may also want:
- long point pencil sharpener $6 – this is the BEST colored pencil sharpener I’ve ever owned
- Small package of baby wipes or paper towels
- glue stick
- Crayola supertip markers – set of 10 – can be shared (for practice sheet only)
Please note, Inktense can STAIN clothing. I highly encourage students to wear short sleeves, old clothes, or bring smocks for this project.
See you on Friday, January 20th at 6:30!
