Can ordinary objects be art? Are you sure? Marcel Duchamp was a French artist who loved to play with this kind of question. He wasn’t a big fan of conventional aesthetics, so his artwork is quite different from other artists of his time. It might be more accurate to call him an anti-artist.
This month we are going to be creating action images in the style of Duchamp. In order to participate in this project each student will need the following items:
- 1 sheet 100lb bristol smooth 9×12 (any fairly thick white paper will do)
- 1 positionable 2D drawing figure (if you did not order one of these, you will need to make your own. Simply print then cut out each of the parts in this image. Don’t forget to punch out the holes) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OnBxBYqpNwOFmaw8v1IsC6fM6W6m8p5j/view?usp=sharing
- set of 12 colored pencils (can be shared)
- pair Scissors (can be shared)
- number 2 pencil with eraser
- 10 brads
- Black permanent marker, fine tip
- washi tape
See you on Friday at 6:30!
