This month we are going to be studying Doménikos Theotokópoulos, better known as El Greco. He was a major figure in the Spanish Renaissance. His extremely expressive style of painting, known as mannerism, is characterized by long faces and a unique sense of proportion.
Gather your materials and join us for this month’s Sketch art class!
For our study of El Greco you will need:
- mixed media paper 9”x12” (can substitute any paper of any size)
- value scale – a printable version is fine
- graphite pencil set including 2B, 4B, H and 2H
- blending stump – can substitute a repeatedly folded paper towel
- kneaded eraser (helpful but optional)
- gum eraser (can substitute the eraser found on the end of any everyday pencil)
- ruler
