If you love animals, this month’s featured artist might just become your new favorite. Rosa Bonheur even owned a lion as a pet. Yeah, she’s that cool.
Remember those oil pastels we barely got our hands dirty with last month? Well now is the time to finally dig in and figure out how to really use them properly! We are going to be learning how to draw pet portraits, and I will include the address of our local animal shelters so that you can mail your finished artwork to encourage their staff if you would like!
To complete this month’s project you will need the following:
- black mixed media paper 9”x12” – 1 sheet per student (can substitute white or watercolor paper)
- blending stump and/or cotton swabs
- paper towels
- oil pastels – Please note! Soft or chalk pastels will not work, but crayons will do in a pinch
- optional: Glad press and seal to protect table
- optional: fixative to seal artwork (you could also just slide your work into a sheet protector)
