Caravaggio

Murder, intrigue, and how to be a bad person – that’s what we will cover in class this Friday as we look at the life of Caravaggio.  His artwork is some of the most stunning of the late-renaissance world, yet his personal life was a complete disaster.  Sometimes bad examples can teach us good lessons.

For this month’s project you will need the following:

  • Mixed Media paper, white, 2-3 sheets per student cut down to approx. 4.5″x6″ (printer paper will not work but thick construction paper is fine for very young students)
  • Pencil sharpener
  • Colored pencils (if you have older students, please consider artist-grade. They make layering easier)
  • Acrylic Paintbrushes, various sizes (you can substitute a toothpick or empty mechanical pencil) (note: you do not need paint)

optional but highly recommended:

  • clipboard or other flat surface to place under your paper
